The 2003 National Conference on Organized Resistance will take place January 24-26 at the Ward Circle Building of American University, Washington, DC.

Now in its sixth year as a space for radical discourse and collective empowerment, this year's NCOR features more workshops, panel discussions and skillshares than ever before, with over sixty confirmed for Saturday and Sunday. From the Pagan Cluster to the Center for Teaching Peace to the International Solidarity Movement and Challenging White Supremacy Workshops, a huge variety of organizations and individuals are helping to make our stated theme of "diversity in resistance" a reality. Check out our current schedule for more details. In addition to the scheduled workshops we have reserved ample space adjacent to the main conference building for "guerrilla workshops," which we will begin scheduling on Saturday morning at 8 AM for anyone interested in putting on a spontaneous presentation. There will also be an Indymedia room with resources and web access and an open documentary screening room -- email us to schedule a screening time for your documentary.

Tabling

Dozens of organizations, collectives, communities, infoshops, distros and amazing individuals will be tabling both days of the conference -- email us at info with TABLE in the subject line to reserve yours for $25 for both days.

Food & Childcare

Food will be provided free of charge on both days of the conference by Richmond and Baltimore Food Not Bombs and the Twin Oaks Community. Free childcare will also be available thanks to the Anti-Authoritarian Babysitters Club (ABC).

Housing & Transportation

If you're planning on coming down or already have a space in town PLEASE register on our rideboard and housing board, and check back for updates from us on available housing and regional caravans. D.C.-area folks please help us out by offering housing.

Registration

Registration is $10, although we do have a number of low-income scholarships available. If you're in the D.C. Metro area contact us for opportunities to volunteer during NCOR and have your registration waived.

Other Activities

Demonstrations:

On Saturday join SUSTAIN (Stop US Tax-Funded Aid to Israel Now) and others in a creative street theater performance to re-enact the Israeli Invasion of Jenin refugee camp at the Dupont Circle Metro Station, and also participate in Compassion Over Killing's anti-fur vigil at Neiman Marcus.

Benefit Concerts:

Benefit shows for progressive organizations are planned for Friday and Saturday night, with a third in the works for Sunday as well. Friday at the Tavern in American University enjoy Majority Rule, Del Cielo, Blacken the Skies, I Farm and Gina Young. Saturday at the Sanctuary Theatre check out Strike Anywhere (tentative), David Rovics, the Devil is Electric, Miss Spice and the Millennium Band, Dame Fate (tentative) and a slam poet spitting words on the Palestinian struggle.

Infoshop Party:

After the conference on Sunday stick around to party with conference organizers and presenters at the Brian Mackenzie Infoshop, D.C.'s new non-profit space for books, records, zines and radical meeting place, opening in early January in the Fleming Center at 9th and P St. NW.
