Tenants are needed for the first day in court in the lawsuit challenging
Governor Pataki's recent changes to the Rent Stabilization Code. The
judge must see that this issue is important to tenants. Although the suit
is being launched in Brooklyn, if we prevail, the anti-tenant changes
could be stopped statewide. Come to court!

*NOTE: Although this is a State Supreme Court case, we have been assigned
a room in the Criminal Court Building. However, as many people have
pointed out, it's a very appropriate building in which to be suing

The Pataki Code Changes:
* Make it easier for landlords to evict and overcharge rent-stabilized
tenants.
* Place undue constraints on the relationship between prime tenants and
roommates, particularly punishing the poor and elderly.
* Make it easier for landlords to increase rents for MCIs, appliances and
services, and harder for tenants to fight these unfair increases.
