The Westchester Board of Legislators' Health Committee, chaired by Tom
Abinanti, is holding a hearing to discuss withdrawing the County's support
for the Indian Point Emergency Evacuation Plan. This issue is very important
because, without some level of government taking responsibility for
implementing an emergency evacuation plan, Indian Point would have to close.
And since we all know that evacuation is impossible, we can, by our presence,
make sure that the Board of Legislators knows it, too. Some Board members
still doubt that many of their constituents care about Indian Point.

A big turnout at the hearing will help prove them wrong and highlight the
fact that momentum to shut down Indian Point is growing. Bring a sign or
banner with your town's name on it.

A candlelight vigil and rally with speakers and important information about
Indian Point will start at 6:15 on the County Center steps. If you are part
of an environmental
organization, or know some concerned citizens, please send word of the
hearing to them.

Directions by Train from NYC: Take Metro North at Grand Central Station to
White Plains station. Then a 5 minute walk from station to Westchester County
Center.

Directions by Car from New York City: Westside Highway to Henry Hudson
Parkway to Sawmill Parkway North to Cross County Parkway East to Bronx River
Parkway North to Westchester County Center (its right on the Bronx River
Parkway). Approx. 1 hour to destination.

Also, please send a letter to the editor from your political party committees
and your local community organizations, or as an individual, calling on the
Westchester County Board to decertify the insane delusion that we can safely
evacuate our county if Indian
Point goes up in a giant nuclear radiation cloud.
