The theoretical corpus and the current social ecology, proposed by Murray Bookchin in the second half of the twentieth century, remains relatively unknown in France, and scrambled by controversies often linked to this ignorance. Last night we shot some video inside the squatted Debtors prison in Dublin - the courts have ordered those living here to get out by midnight on Sunday, 11.59 to be exact. The abandoned prison in Dublins inner city has been occupied to be used as shelter and an arts space. The prison lies just behind Capel st, the entrance is on Halston st. The government are trying every trick to delay a referendum to repepeal the hated 8th amendment. Every day they do so means another 12 women have to make the difficult journey to England to access abortion. On August 3, several anarchists in The Hague, Netherlands, and one of another town received a notification of Mayor Van Aartsen for two months prohibiting access to Schilderswijk, a central working-class neighborhood with many immigrants. August 18, the Champaign County Board met to vote on a sales tax referendum to go on the ballot in the Fall. The purpose of the proposed sales tax increase is primarily to fund a jail expansion package at the expense of neglecting sorely needed social services and programs. Knowing that Champaign County’s rich would oppose an increase in property taxes, the Board chose to instead fund jail expansion through a sales tax increase, which largely affects the poor. In other words, Champaign’s mostly Black working and sub-working class people who are disproportionately targeted by the police will be made to fund their own incarceration. After so many years it is hard to get used to the replacement of tear gas and bullets with threat of arrests if we cross an imaginary line. For many years the activists of the AATW worried about the day when the Israeli state decision makers will minimise or even stop the the harsh repression of the weekly joint demonstrations against the occupation, the settlers and the separation wall.
