The journal Historical Materialism, in cooperation with the Centre for Diplomacy and
International Studies (SOAS) invites you to a one-day conference on "An Anatomy of the World Crisis" on Saturday 2 November, 2002, with Robert Brenner to
discuss the themes and questions raised by his book The Boom and the Bubble
(Verso, 2002).

The "Many Faces of War" conference, was created by
POWER (People Opposing War, Empires and Rulers) and
many other organizations, as a direct response to
educate and empower people to make informed decisions
about the many different war's being waged all over
the world.

The three-day conference is totally FREE of

charge, each night of the conference we will hold a
variety of musical benefit shows, all $$$ that is made

will go towards groups participating in the
conference, and Arts In Action.

The conference is an anarchist/anti-authoritarian
perspective on war, it will focus on growing political

repression due to war, racism, immigration,
patriotism, community organizing, anarchist history,
and the overall effect that war has on regular people,

it will also be a time that we are able to come
together and speak to one another on what ordinary
people can do to promote an anti-war and
anti-authoritarian political movement together, within

their own community. We want a better world, one
without hierarchy, imperialists, or empires. We want a

new world, and we are hoping that through education
and action we are able to achieve that common goal
that binds us all together.

Days of Social Disobedience in Solidarity with Argentina's Popular Rebellion, December 20–21, 2002

As Argentina tumbles further into uncharted financial crisis an inspiring popular rebellion has been spreading across the country. An ongoing movement has developed that has become a living laboratory of struggle, a space where the popular politics of the future are being re-invented. The rising rebellion exploded on December 20th 2001, when over a million people took to the streets banging their pots and pans and ousting the government. This year on the 20th of December people in Argentina and across the globe are calling for a global day of Action to demonstrate that those who are building alternatives to the dictatorship of the markets are not alone.

'Anarchy for Life' is the third annual national anarchist conference in
Australia. It will be held in Brisbane, Australia, May 3-4, 2003.

The 'Anarchy for Life' Conference aims to bring anarchist and autonomous
activists from around Australia together, to share knowledge, experiances and
build supportive networks.

The conference wil use 'open space' technique for workshops, in a similar way to
the Brisbane Social Forum. This means that it will be self-organised. Workshops
and the topics will be decided on the day, by those participating in them. It is
free flowing, particpants can choose for themselves which workshops to attend,
when and for how long.

In a lead-up to the conference, will be a 'Week of Anarchy' including various
events, actions and the May Day protest-festival. This includes an Anarchist
Ball and radical cinema.

So put the dates in your diary now, and make some travel plans. Everyone is invited.
